WELCOME

is a multi-disciplinary project documenting the integration of Ukrainian refugees into Austrian society through a participatory art installation.
The project highlights the personal experiences of refugees and the locals who help them, in order to promote understanding and build bridges between the communities.

bios:

Danylo Kovach

born in 1992 in Zaporizhia, Ukraine.
He is working in the field of graphics, painting, installation and performance. His work is an intensification of the development of performative and installation practices in Ukrainian creative centres, which consistently demonstrates the appeal to current socio-cultural issues. The works are an example of this phenomenon and at the same time reveal a comprehensive approach to the theoretical and practical component. 

Kovach studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts and the performance school of Janusz Baldyga and Przemyslaw Kwik (Lviv). His performative works were especially influenced by the practice of the artist Jürgen Fritz. In 2022 Danylo Kovach was Artist in Residence at GRUND1535.

Tomi Hazhlinsky

Tomi Hazhlinsky ist Filmemacher, Künstler und Musiker. Seit dem Abschluss der Musikakademie Charkiw arbeitet er als genreübergreifender Komponist. Wesentlicher Bestandteil seiner Arbeit ist die Kombination von elektronischen Instrumenten mit klassischen Sinfonieorchestern sowie die Möglichkeit zufälliger Modulationen. Ein treffendes Beispiel dafür ist die Komposition für die Eröffnung eines Museums auf dem Gelände einer ehemaligen Synagoge in Lviv. 

Hazhlinskys Musik ist auf Musiklabels wie Crude Tapes Record, Wilderei und Praktyka zu finden, die er selbst mitgegründet hat. Er ist auch Mitglied der Künstlergruppe Dorr Hazhlinsky, deren Werke auf der ukrainischen Biennale realisiert wurden.
